    Nearly 100 Leadership Health Care (LHC) members attended today’s Fundamentals Series program, "Health Care IT: Managing the Midlife Crisis” with Vern Davenport, Chairman and CEO of M*Modal, the largest provider of medical transcription services in the U.S.

  • Leadership Health Care Belmont Tour Highlights Collaborative Training Models

    Dr. Cathy Taylor, dean of the Gordon E. Inman College of Health Sciences and Nursing at Belmont University, and Dr. Thomas Burns, provost, Belmont University, welcomed members of Leadership Health Care (LHC) with remarks on Friday afternoon, just before the group was given a tour of the state-of-the-art training facilities used by students studying physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing and social work.

  • Leadership Health Care Invites Applications for Committee Service

    Leadership Health Care (LHC) is now accepting applications for service on the Education & Events Committee and Marketing & Membership Committee. These two committees provide opportunity for active engagement in LHC.
     
    Additional details related to the committee application process:
    •     All individuals who have been an LHC member for at least one year may apply.
    •     LHC members may submit just one application with their preferred committee indicated.
    •     Current committee members must reapply with the exception of LHC board members.
    •     Each committee includes eight LHC board members and eight non-board members.

    More than 125 Leadership Health Care members were treated to a conversation with HCA chairman and CEO Richard Bracken on Tuesday. Jim Cheek, member, Bass, Berry & Sims, facilitated the discussion.

    Founded in 1968, Nashville-based HCA was one of the nation's first hospital companies. Today, the company is comprised of locally managed facilities, including 163 hospitals and 110 freestanding surgery centers in 20 states and England. HCA employs approximately 199,000 people.

  • LHC Members Tour Saint Thomas Hospital’s Unity System

    As part of Leadership Health Care’s ongoing “Industry Tour Series,” members of LHC were given an inside look at Saint Thomas Hospital’s Unity System on Tuesday. Launched in 2012, the Unity System is the first fully-integrated neurosurgical center of its kind in the United States for treating brain tumors. It includes the newest imaging and treatment technologies to seamlessly create a virtual operating room where physicians join together and work in real-time as a unified team to determine the best treatment plan for the patient, even the most complicated brain cancer and tumor cases.

  • A.J. Kazimi, CEO of Cumberland Pharmaceuticals, Speaks to LHC Members

    Just under 100 members of Leadership Health Care (LHC) attended an executive briefing on Thursday with A.J. Kazimi, chairman and CEO of Cumberland Pharmaceuticals. Kazimi, a 20-year veteran in the international biopharmaceutical industry, has served in his current position since the specialty pharmaceutical firm was established in 1999.

    His presentation to LHC explored the life science and pharmaceutical industry landscape in Tennessee, the process of getting pharmaceuticals from their initial development into the marketplace and Cumberland Pharmaceuticals’ specific offerings and business model.
