NASHVILLE HEALTH CARE INDUSTRY "FAMILY TREE"As the health care industry in Nashville continues to grow, so too does our Health Care Industry Family Tree, which the Council annually updates for our members, the media, policymakers and others. Originally created as a guide for investors in 1998, the Tree serves as a visual depiction of Nashville’s extensive health care industry, which originates largely from the founding of two hospital management companies in the late 1960s, including Hospital Corporation of America. Today, Nashville is home to nearly 300 health care companies that operate on a multi-state, national or international basis.
This color poster includes industry clusters of companies that have been spin-offs, or have had key management personnel who came from HCA, HealthTrust or Hospital Affiliates. The Tree also features company clusters representing venture capital, health care services, information technology and biotechnology companies that have Nashville ties, but do not stem from the above-mentioned companies.
