Overview
The Council commemorates the achievements, special events and news that fostered the growth of Nashville's $70 billion health care industry from 2010-2011* in this online annual report. Learn more about the Nashville health care industry.
Despite a challenging national economy, the past year saw new investor confidence and a return to the markets for the health care industry. With more access to capital and increased activities around mergers and acquisitions, Nashville witnessed new health care spin-offs, job creation and growth.
The Council’s signature 2010-2011 Health Care Industry Family Tree visually represents this growth in Nashville’s dynamic and diverse health care industry that began with the founding of HCA in the late 1960s. Since then, the Family Tree has chronicled the city’s entrepreneurial history through the local startups that have grown to be market leaders, creating the interconnectivity of the cluster.
Nashville has a good organizational climate with strong role models that have made the startup and success of new enterprises possible. I continue to be amazed at the number visionary health care entrepreneurs who have chosen Middle Tennessee as they seek their dreams. It has all the ingredients necessary for success.
